Working families in Chattanooga face financial hardship and tough choices.
Calls every year to United Way of Greater Chattanooga for emergency assistance.
Needed annually to help families with basic utility assistance, like power.
EPB PowerShare is a voluntary program that allows EPB Energy customers to help local families who need temporary assistance paying their electric bill.
Even a small contribution can help keep the lights on and provide stability for a family in need.
How it works:
“I had just started a new job, but didn’t have enough to cover all bills and our electric has been past due. United Way stepped in and helped my family by connecting us to PowerShare. The payment helped us pay our past due electric bill. Thank you!”
- Robert
“Your assistance has made a significant difference in my life, allowing me to keep the lights on and maintain a sense of normalcy during a challenging time.”
- Alexis

As a community-based utility, EPB is legally required to treat all customers fairly and consistently. That means we can’t waive or forgive charges for one customer without doing the same for everyone since not charging some means shifting costs to other customers. As part of our mission to serve the whole community, we work hard to deliver very reliable services at the best possible value while covering the real expenses (like poles, power lines, and substations) necessary to deliver electricity to every local home and business.
As a company and through individual employee giving, EPB supports United Way of Greater Chattanooga and other local non-profits that provide emergency support for people in need. We also invite our customers to join us by donating through PowerShare to help cover the cost for customers who are struggling. If you’re having difficulties paying your bill, we’ll work with you individually to make flexible payment arrangements and connect you with community assistance. Please call us, (423) 648-1372.
